On February 24, 2022, Russia, unprovoked, started a war with Ukraine. It was not the first time. In 1994 the US, along with Russia and the UK, signed the Budapest Memorandum, providing security assurances to Ukraine in exchange for its disarmament. This included respect for state sovereignty and inviolability of borders, and a commitment to seek UN Security Council action if Ukraine became a victim of aggression.
We made this agreement in order to prevent Russia from marching across the eastern European block and seeking to conquer multiple sovereign countries, which would set the UN and alliance countries in motion to defend them, thereby launching off World War 3.
We were keeping our agreement and seeing success, until this new regime decided to leave Ukraine defenseless.
Instead of cave to Russia, President Volodymyr Zelensky took it upon himself to align the forces of good in a new way around Ukraine, without America, and the western world responded, taking up the space America left empty, and strengthening the defenses of the entire world in opposition to The United States.
Then he went home, and continued to defend his country.
In Ukraine right now, civilians are walking out of their homes and traveling to the front lines, ready to fight to defend their homeland with their own lives.
It's time for Americans to strive for the courage displayed in Ukraine.
